Noisy building work being undertaken on the local retail park caused a number of complaints from local residents on Hickton Drive.  After calling local councillor Craig Cox, he worked with his colleague Cllr. Eric Kerry from Attenborough to ensure that resident’s were not having to put up with this noise.

Cllr Cox said: “After receiving a phone call from local residents about the noise, Cllr. Kerry and I went to speak to the contractors carrying out the building work.  After informing them about the noise keeping residents awake at night, they agreed to stop noise into the night.  We are reviewing this constantly with local residents and will continue to engage with the environmental health department in case of continuing disturbances.”

UPDATE:  After experiencing more unrest, local residents have come back to Cllr. Cox to complain about the noise which has not abated. Cllr. Cox is now contacting the relevant council departments to find an official solution to protect local residents from unacceptable noise levels after the initial agreement seems not to have worked.
